If you’re looking for a day full of family fun, the North Georgia State Fair is where it’s at! This past weekend, we packed up the boys, grabbed our comfiest shoes (fairgrounds can be a workout), and headed out to Marietta for a day full of excitement, sweet treats, and some fun rides. Here's some info and photo's I took if you'd like to visit next year!
Why We Love the North Georgia State Fair 🎠
First off, this fair has everything. Whether you’re into thrilling rides that have you screaming your lungs out, or you’re just there for the classic food (that’s me!), there’s something for everyone. Plus, the fairground is huge, but not so big that it feels overwhelming. Perfect for those of us trying to keep little ones in check!
The Rides: Thrills for All Ages 🎢
The first thing we did when we arrived? Head straight for the rides, of course! My boys are at that age where they wants to ride everything, so we started with some family-friendly options like the bumper cars and giant slide. Of course, they had the classic options like the ferris wheel and carousel. To avoid the lines, we opted to go on a Saturday morning as soon as they opened at 10am.

Fair Food: Heaven on a Stick 🍭
Let’s talk about the real reason we go to fairs – the FOOD! If you’ve never had a funnel cake dusted with powdered sugar, do you even fair? We made a beeline for the food trucks after the rides, and the smell of fried everything was absolutely irresistible. From corn dogs to deep-fried Oreos (yes, I indulged – zero regrets), there was something for every craving.
I’ve got to say, the lemonade stands were a lifesaver. After all that walking in the sun, nothing hits the spot like an ice-cold lemonade. And if you’ve got a sweet tooth like me, you’ve got to try the caramel apples. Sticky, sweet, and totally worth the mess!
Animal Encounters: Cutest Part of the Day 🐮
One of my favorite parts of the fair? The petting zoo! The kids were obsessed with feeding the goats (and I’m pretty sure the goats were loving the attention too). We also got to see some adorable bunnies and the fluffiest sheep. And let me tell you, I had to convince my youngest that we couldn’t take one home with us. 😅
The Shopping & Shows: A Fun Surprise 🛍️
In between rides and snack breaks, we wandered through the marketplace stalls. It was like a mini treasure hunt – from handmade jewelry to quirky home decor, there were tons of unique finds. I ended up snagging a cute handcrafted bracelet (because you can never have too much arm candy, right?). We caught the tail-end of a little girls' dance team and it was adorable!
Insider Tips for Your Visit 🌟
Arrive Early: If you want to beat the crowds, getting there when the gates open is key! It gives you a chance to enjoy the rides before the lines get long.
Bring Cash: While some vendors take cards, having cash on hand will save you time, especially at the food stalls.
Comfy Shoes: Trust me, you’ll thank yourself for wearing shoes you can walk in for hours!
All-You-Can-Ride Wristbands: If your family is all about the rides, go for the wristbands. You’ll get your money’s worth in no time, especially if your kids are like mine and want to ride everything… twice.

Wrapping Up Our Fair Adventure 🎆
By the end of the day, we were exhausted but completely satisfied. There’s just something magical about the atmosphere at the North Georgia State Fair – the lights, the laughter, and the joy of being together as a family. Whether you’re going for the rides, the food, or just to make memories, it’s an experience I highly recommend. We can’t wait to go back next year!
If you’re planning to visit, I hope this little guide helps you make the most of your day. 💖
